Company Highlight

Meet Lizzie Kattman a Senior Solutions Architect at Kevel, as she reflects on her career journey, the company values that inspire her, and how she achieves work-life balance. Based in Raleigh, NC, Lizzie has been instrumental to Kevel’s growth since joining the company in 2019, back when the team was just 20 people strong!

Q: What brought you to Kevel?

Lizzie’s journey at Kevel has been one of growth and evolution. “I started at Kevel as a Business Development Representative on the Sales team,” she shares. “Throughout the years, and with the help of my amazing colleagues, I advanced my technical skillset and ultimately joined the Solutions team with Customer Success.”

Lizzie cites Kevel’s culture of support and growth as instrumental throughout her career. “Kevel has always been supportive in helping me design a career path that aligns with my strengths and interests,” she says. “It’s been an incredible experience to evolve alongside the company.”

Q: What company value resonates with you most and why?

The Kevel value that resonates most with Lizzie is We are all adults. “At Kevel, our culture is built on trust,” she shares. “I feel empowered to put my best foot forward every day knowing that my leaders value me as an individual and an adult.”

This autonomy and trust became especially meaningful during Lizzie’s paid maternity leave. “The company made the entire process so supportive and seamless,” she recalls. “I was even able to pad out my leave with an extra week of ‘nesting’ time, which was such a thoughtful way to prepare for my baby.”

Lizzie also credits Kevel CEO James Avery with shaping this culture. “James has always prioritized family—he’d take the time to pick his kids up from school—and that set the tone for how Kevel values its people.”

We Are All Adults
“We will build a company where we want to work, with a focus on self-responsibility and autonomy.
We trust our employees to do the right thing, and we don’t feel like the company or management needs to babysit them.”

Q: What’s your favorite part of the job?

For Lizzie, teamwork and customer success are at the heart of her role. “I love helping customers meet their goals and seeing their ad products built with Kevel live in action,” she explains. “It’s extremely rewarding to see hard work come to life. We succeed when our customers succeed.”

Q: How do you balance work and home life?

Lizzie’s secret to balance involves her two Brittany Spaniels, Ghost and Sugar. “I always carve out 30 minutes during the day to walk my dogs,” she says. “The fresh air and time with them always leave me feeling energized and refreshed.”

She laughs, adding, “At 3:00 every day, Sugar will come over and be like, ‘Okay, it’s time to play now.’ They help me stick to a routine and make sure I get time away from my desk.”

Outside of work, Lizzie also enjoys cooking, exercising, and spending time with her family -- “Usually chasing around our toddler!” she adds.

Q: What advice would you give to someone pursuing a career in solutions architecture?

“Be open to learning,” Lizzie advises. “Sales architecture is very much a multi-skilled field. There’s a sales branch, the product side of things, and the customer side. It’s a lot of different disciplines, and you need to be comfortable navigating all of them.”

Lizzie’s own career is a testament to this mindset. Since joining Kevel in 2019, she’s witnessed the company’s evolution -- from intimate Friday All Hands meetings to the present day Kevelfest getaway -- but notes, “Honestly, not much has changed. The culture is still very much the same.”
